Let’s be real. Music is super important at weddings. It’s what you hear when the bride walks down the aisle, when you dance with your spouse for the first time, and when everyone is celebrating with you by the end of the night. Therefore, the decision of which musical entertainment route to take can be difficult. In this post we will discuss pros and cons of each and hopefully pair you with the perfect reception entertainment!

A DJ is a lone musical wolf and therefore may be the better option when it comes to budgeting. He/she is better for playing requested songs on the spot and adapting to the receptions atmosphere. If your wanting everyone at your wedding on the dance floor with you, it’s pretty likely the DJ will make it happen with hits like ‘Cha Cha Slide’ and ‘Cupid Shuffle’. The DJ is not only famous for keeping everyone engaged but for keeping the wedding moving and on track as well. It takes no time for a DJ to stop his turning tables to relay an important message from the wedding planner. This route can be more organized and cost efficient.

Willing to go the extra mile when it comes to music? A band can bring a real concert feel to your very own wedding! Not only do you and your guests get to witness the art of singing and music first hand, but you’ll be able to engage with the band members as you would the people around you. This musical route can also bring a more classy feel to your reception and to some people, a more entertaining one. Also, a band may be the better option if you’re interested in only hearing similar musical genres instead of wide ranges.

Before choosing either option it’s important that you take the time to see your musical options live first hand before finalizing. By doing this you’ll be able to determine the type of vibe they bring and whether or not you want it at your reception. Also, it’s very important to cover what you do and don’t like with your entertainment before your wedding in order for them to plan accordingly.
